What it is

Prowler is an open-source cloud security platform (Apache-2.0) that automates security and compliance assessments across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, GitHub, Microsoft 365 and other providers. The same engine powers the self-run Prowler CLI and the managed Prowler Cloud and Private Cloud offerings.

What it helps with

- Running hundreds of ready-made checks against cloud accounts and clusters.
- Mapping findings to common compliance frameworks for audit evidence.
- Hardening and continuous monitoring of multicloud posture from CLI or UI.
- Embedding scans in CI/CD (including the official GitHub Action) with optional SARIF output.
- Using Prowler Cloud for hosted continuous scanning, SSO and AI-assisted workflows when you prefer not to operate the stack yourself.
- Giving teams a free open-source path with a commercial managed upgrade path.

Who it's for

Cloud security engineers, compliance owners and MSPs who need open, inspectable cloud posture checks across multiple providers, from local CLI use through managed SaaS.

Worth knowing

Prowler CLI and OSS components are free under Apache-2.0. Prowler Cloud is commercial managed SaaS (public pricing from about $99 per cloud provider account per month, with a free trial). Official site prowler.com; source at github.com/prowler-cloud/prowler. Peer depth alongside published Wiz rather than a duplicate. Authorised cloud security assessment use only.
